Making Hand Tied & Dyed (Bandhni), Hand Painted (Kalamkari)
Description
The inspiration for this piece has been drawn from the handiwork of the master painter of the earth and sky. The way he has dyed the sky in dreamy hues and painted each petal and leaf with delicately beautiful colours. All the elements of nature have inspired our artisan to create a wool-silk stole of exceptional beauty.
The yarn used for weaving the tussar silk and wool panels is infused with soul and sustainability. It is imbued with the soothing qualities of colour and texture found in nature. The beauty of nature has been lyrically captured on this piece of painted poetry. It took a month to put together the entire stole. A tamarind twig was dipped in organic dyes to paint the kalamkari patterns. The demanding procedure took several days as the material must dry between each step. But the final creation is so exquisitely lovely, that it is all worth the hard work that has gone into it. The rabari embroidery on the red woollen panel adds to its beauty.
