Making Handwoven Silk Wool(Jamdani) & Hand Embroidery
This beautiful piece has been woven on a traditional pit loom in Kutch, Gujarat. For a woolen piece, 600 yarn threads are used on the warp beam, whereas for silk almost 1000 strands are used. These looms are usually wide enough for weaving only one-half of the wrap. So two pieces are woven separately and then stitched together using a distinctively unique stitch. Once the weaving is complete the women embellish the piece with intricate embroidery. The weaver has interwoven his story on this work of art. The blue silk panels on the borders enhance the beauty of the wrap. Discover these stunning pieces only at Niiyaa.
